A Summary Of Our Test Procedures

OUTER EAR:

With Video Otoscopy we check to see what is going on inside the ear canal. This may help detect developing conditions that could require medical attention or perhaps even make an immediate improvement in the hearing process.  You will be able to see your ear canal and eardrum on a color television monitor.

IMMITTANCE TESTING:

Tympanometry is an objective technique used to measure the mobility and the pressure within the middle-ear system. The information obtained assists in recognizing middle ear infections, fluid build-up, eustachian tube function, ear canal volume and tympanic membrane (eardrum) compliance. If middle ear problems exists, the hearing process will be impaired.

Acoustic Reflex testing involves presentation of several pure tones at pre-set intensity levels. This helps determine the integrity of the neuronal pathway involving the 7th and 8th cranial nerves. Elevated or absent acoustic reflexes may indicate the need for a medical referral.
